Hooded Merganser – Female

Nikon D300, 500mm PF, 1/1250, f5.6, iso640

Recently I saw a YouTube video from Ray Hennessy about how he got his Hooded Merganser photos. I learned a lot from that video. Shooting from low angle is something I didn’t try in the past. Found this Hooded Merganser swimming in the open pond. Tried to get as low as I could to replicate the shot as Ray Hennessy. But I have a lot of things to work on to improve my technique.

Any critique and comments are welcome.

  1. Did you lay down on the ground? LOL. I really like the angle you got on this. I’m going to go look at that video. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Not really on the ground. Just sitting down. Will get there 1 day. (Mentally not ready to submerge into the pond like Ray. That is something I need to overcome).
