Great Blue Heron

Nikon D300, 500mm PF, 1/1600, f6.3, iso400

The weather started to warm up a bit and it has attracted many Great Blue Herons coming back to the river. All of them were very busy fishing along the river. I was also very busy taking photos of them fishing. Most of them didn’t mind I was there but few of them would take off to other places. When they decided to fly away, other herons around him didn’t follow him. Not like Mallard and Canadian Geese that the whole flock will come and go together.

They were also very quiet and stood patiently fishing without making any big movement. But when they found their prey, they would throw their head like spear to their target. It is interesting to observe them doing this.
