Katydid

Nikon D300, SB26 & SB800, Tamron 180mm, 1/200s, f18, iso800

Katydid is pretty common insect that can be found in most part of the world. Oddly, I only have 1 photo of Katydid in my collection. I can’t explain why I don’t have more in my collection. Come to think of it, I don’t even have a photo of jumping spider. Maybe I will see more this summer.

Photo was taken at night at a neighborhood park. Since it is dark at night, camera flash will be the only light source for night macro shooting. I used 2 flashes which were set at different power to add some shadow like how it is done in the studio. The dark background help my viewer to focus on the Katydid. The color of it’s body help to camouflage in the bushes.
